  November 17, 2022

Earlier this week a new study investigating the impact of long COVID was published by University College Cork (UCC)1. This study involved 988 participants with 90% of participants reporting that they still have not returned to their pre COVID level of health and that their current symptoms were not present prior to contracting the virus. Over 35% of respondents also reported of experiencing novel tinnitus.

35% of long covid sufferers reported of experiencing novel tinnitus

Nearly 40% of participants stated that they were "severely limited" in their ability to work, and 60% of respondents had missed work days at some stage due to their long Covid symptoms.

Over the past year clinicians at The Tinnitus Clinic Ltd. have assessed and treated numerous patients who have presented with tinnitus, hearing loss and hyperacusis. A significant number of these cases have reported that the onset of these symptoms correlated with suffering from a severe COVID infection.
