The UK’s leading audiologist practice, The Tinnitus Clinic has launched a remote consultation service that will allow patients to have a virtual assessment for tinnitus or hearing loss with an expert audiologist.
Mark Williams, Chief Audiologist at The Tinnitus Clinic, said:
“At this time of national emergency, with restrictions being placed on travel due to Covid-19, it is important that all businesses respond with innovations. The Tinnitus Clinic has always been at the forefront of technology and we are pleased to be able to continue to help those people who need us.”
The Tinnitus Clinic has adapted their offering to allow tinnitus and hearing loss patients to be evaluated via video or telephone. Each individual appointment will be conducted on a video platform of the patient’s choice or by telephone. The structured appointment will take the patient’s medical history, their symptoms, and offer expert knowledge and advise on the most suitable course of treatment. Patients with more complex cases will be invited to attend the clinic at a later date.
Mark continued:
“We would encourage anyone who would like to have their hearing or tinnitus checked at this time to get in touch for a remote consultation. “The assessments are helpful for patients who are seeking treatment right now, without having to visit a clinic. It is a stressful time for us all, and tinnitus can be particularly challenging at times of stress so we would urge people to seek help now.
“A recent audiogram can be helpful for some patients; however, this is not essential. All clients will have a greater understanding of what steps should be taken after the 30-minute consultation.”
Following an initial fitting, patients are being treated from the comfort of their own home with the Tinnitus Desensitisation Therapy™ (TDT) app, which works by connecting a hearing aid with a Telecare platform, allowing audiologists to communicate with the device and patients.
The Tinnitus Clinic can also offer 45-minute counselling session to deal with negative thought patterns.
