During Tinnitus Awareness Week in early February, our Clinic Director, Josephine Swinhoe spoke on a number of local and national radio stations about the causes and treatment of tinnitus.

Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation continues to gain traction in scientific circles, with the publication of a paper by Professor Peter Tass in Biological Cybernetics. Professor Tass is the inventor of Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation, and his paper, ‘Unlearning tinnitus-related cerebral synchronicity with acoustic coordinated reset stimulation’ is now available online.

Recent advances in tinnitus research mean that there are exciting times ahead, as a greater understanding of the causes of tinnitus leads to the development of more effective treatments for the condition. 

Following on from its successful use in Germany and here in the UK, Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation with the NTR Neurostimulatorhas been approved by the American health authority FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Today marks the start of Tinnitus Awareness Week 2012 in the UK. 

The Tinnitus Clinic is pleased to announce that we will be opening new consulting rooms in Altrincham near Manchester in March 2012.

Despite ongoing research activity and advances in clinical practice, many questions remain unanswered about tinnitus assessment, diagnosis and treatment. It is these questions that will form the basis of future research.

For many of us, New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate with family and friends. However the fireworks explosions at midnight and loud music at gigs and parties can result in a ringing in the ears that lasts well into the New Year. The Tinnitus Clinic has put together a few tips which can help reduce your risk of tinnitus and hearing loss throughout the party season and beyond.

At this time of the year, many of you may be making your resolutions for 2012. It may be that you’re aiming for a promotion at work or plan to spend more time in the gym. However, if you’re living with tinnitus, you may find that the constant ringing in your ears is a distraction from all your other goals. 

Some of our website visitors may have seen the recent pieces about The Tinnitus Clinic and Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation in Country Life Magazine and Shooting Gazette. These stories both mentioned the link between tinnitus, hearing loss and exposure to shot gun and rifle fire. 

Some of you may have already read Peter Humphries’ story, either on our website or in the press. Peter was one of our first patients here at The Tinnitus Clinic. He had lived with tinnitus for 20 years before beginning the Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation treatment in June 2011.
