A day without tinnitus: “tranquillity”

What would a day without tinnitus sound like to you?

To mark Tinnitus Week 2019, from 4 – 10 February, the team at The Tinnitus Clinic has launched an awareness raising campaign to engage with sufferers, encourage people to talk openly about their experiences, and highlight how no one should ‘just have to live with’ tinnitus. Chief Audiologist at The Tinnitus Clinic, Mark Williams, said: “As a result of tinnitus, sufferers can experience debilitating depression, anxiety and sleep deprivation.

“It can be hugely challenging, and many people are often told there is nothing that can be done to help, or tinnitus is just something you have to live with.

“We wanted to engage with sufferers to learn more about their experiences of living with tinnitus and raise awareness of what it would be like if they no longer had the condition. “We’ve had an overwhelming response, with people saying things like: ‘tranquillity, it would be the most incredible day’, ‘pure emotional bliss’ and ‘a dream come true’.

“While we can’t promise a cure and you should never trust anyone who offers this, we provide a range of evidence-based treatments which can dramatically reduce tinnitus symptoms.

“There needs to be much greater understanding of tinnitus and the treatments available. The right treatment can make a huge difference to someone’s life and I would urge anyone who is suffering to get in touch.”
